Objectives of the Course This course aims, first, to introduce audio-visual translation (AVT), types, scope, and historical development of AVT in general, and then to improve students’ understanding and technical capacity to produce subtitles for different audio-visual resources/texts such as videos, movies, series, documentaries, and cartoons, and to discuss processes, challenges, strategies, and solutions that audio-visual translation requires.
Course Content Attendance is a must. There is an absence limit of 30 % of the total course hours (which is 12 hours) in a term. Medical reports are included in these 12 hours. The students who exceed the limit will automatically fail. Partial absence or lateness of 15 minutes or more will be counted as a full class absence. The students should participate in all the activities done in the class and do the assigned homework and presentations. Assignments should be submitted on time. No late submissions will be accepted.
