Objectives of the Course This course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of Machine Translation and CAT tools, with a specific focus on Smartcat and Phrase. Students will gain practical skills in using these tools for translation, including translation memory, terminology management, alignment, quality assurance, post-editing, and project management.
Course Content The course will cover theoretical concepts as well as hands-on exercises and projects, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world translation scenarios. By the end of the course, students will be able to use Smartcat and Phrase effectively to produce high-quality translations.
Course Methods and Techniques Attendance is a must. There is an absence limit of 30 % of the total course hours (which is 12 hours) in a term. Medical reports are included in these 12 hours. The students who exceed the limit will automatically fail. Partial absence or lateness of 15 minutes or more will be counted as a full class absence. The students should participate in all the activities done in the class and do the assigned homework. Assignments should be submitted on time. No late submissions will be accepted.
