Dersin Amacı
|
The course aims to enable the students to work on a model for source-text analysis and to develop skills to make translation-oriented text analyses on different text types. In addition, the students are expected to choose the translation strategies suitable for the intended purpose of the particular translation they are working on after understanding the content, structure, and function of the source text.

Dersin İçeriği
|
Attendance is a must. There is an absence limit of 30 % of the total course hours (which is 12 hours) in a term. The students who will exceed the limit will automatically fail. Lateness will be considered an absence. The students should participate in all the activities done in the class and do the assigned homework. Assignments should be submitted on time. No late submissions will be accepted.

Dersin Yöntem ve Teknikleri
|
The course will be a combination of lectures and class discussions. The instructor will provide background information on various concepts including translation, text types, translation-oriented text analysis, and translation strategies. Also, various examples of different text types will be provided. Class discussions will be focused on these concepts, sample texts, and extra research on the topic. “Text Types” is primarily an applied course based on student feedback.
