Objectives of the Course This course aims to increase the general awareness of students regarding their profession and introduce requirements, challenges of the profession, and rights and responsibilities of translators & interpreters in the professional world.
Course Content To enable learning from experience sharing and build prospective professional networks between students and the sector, a professional translator and/or interpreter from different professional settings will be hosted each week.
Course Methods and Techniques Attendance is a must. There is an absence limit of 30 % of the total course hours (which is 12 hours) in a term. The students who will exceed the limit will automatically fail. Partial absence or lateness of 15 minutes or more will be counted as a full class absence. The students should participate in all the activities done in the class and do the assigned homework. Assignments should be submitted on time. No late submissions will be accepted. Students will be responsible for the assigned readings/watchings/listenings and writing reflection papers. Preparing interview questions for guests will be also the students’ duty.
