Objectives of the Course This course provides a comprehensive overview of major theories and approaches in Translation Studies from early linguistic and equivalence-based models to functional, cultural, ideological, and sociological turns. Students examine key theoretical frameworks, influential scholars, and contemporary developments including discourse analysis, descriptive translation studies, corpus-based approaches, and audiovisual and localization practices. The course combines theoretical discussion with text-based analysis and critical evaluation of translation practices.
Course Content The critical issues in translation theory and translation studies will be discussed during the course hours and students are expected to learn the language and discourse for discussing translation phenomena.
