Objectives of the Course
|
The course examines how dominant paradigms move among different disciplines of
design and how each design discipline internalize them. In this way it aims to widen the autonomous borders of design professions by questioning the multilayered
interpretations of singular concepts at various levels. The course also targets to enable the students to establish their own visual dictionary by the help of the analysis of contemporary art works.

Course Content
|
The course is focused on contemporary design, especially by looking at the
intersections among graphical, interior, industrial, architectural design in relation to the different realms of art such as theatre, photography, installation art, cinema and some performance arts starting from the 20th century.

Course Methods and Techniques
|
Theoretical lectures, interactive discussions, seminars, critical reading of texts, case study analysis, artwork analysis, presentations supported by visual and audiovisual materials, student presentations, group discussions, individual research, critical writing exercises, and independent learning.
