Objectives of the Course This course aims to introduce the fundamental concepts and production processes of two-dimensional digital design. Students learn vector- and raster-based design techniques using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop while developing practical skills in composition, typography, color systems, and layer management. The course also covers design problem analysis, digital workflow planning, and project development processes.
Course Content The course covers the fundamental concepts of digital design, raster and vector graphics systems, basic drawing tools and shape creation in Adobe Illustrator, color systems and digital color management, typography and visual hierarchy, composition and layout principles, layer and mask techniques, basic image editing in Adobe Photoshop, and design problem analysis and project development processes.
Course Methods and Techniques Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Explain the fundamental concepts of computer-aided design.
Produce two-dimensional digital designs using the basic tools of Adobe Illustrator.
Apply the principles of layers, color, typography, and composition in a digital design environment.
Perform basic image editing and visual effects using Adobe Photoshop.
Analyze a given design problem and develop appropriate design solutions.
Plan and complete a small-scale digital design project.
