Objectives of the Course The primary purpose of this course is to introduce students to the scientific study of how individuals' thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are influenced by the actual, imagined, or implied presence of others. Through the examination of core theories and empirical research, students will explore foundational topics such as social cognition, attitude formation and change, conformity, prejudice, interpersonal attraction, and group dynamics
Course Content This course presents students a broad introduction about the major themes of social psychology. Generally, the lectures aim to explore the many ways in which we can be influenced by other people and the social environment we live in and also to introduce students the main theories, research and scientists of the different areas of social psychology including cognitive processes (e.g., social cognition, social perception, the self) and social relations between people (e.g., prosocial behavior, interpersonal relations, group processes). Beyond the theoretical knowledge, the course will provide an insight into the many different areas and an ability to analyze and formulate society-related examples
Course Methods and Techniques Visual, Auditory, Read/Write, In-class Activities and Teaching Strategies will be used.
